Lots of time has passed since my last blog post, and I have been busy here at Bellaugello. Why you might ask have I not blogged for some time, well lots of reasons, but I will not bore you with them. Instead as the Bellaugello season comes into full swing a bit of news of what has been happening here in sunny Umbria.
March was a glorious month, we opened with a house full of guests for a traditional Easter, a delicious lunch with my friends at their farmhouse in the valley, unusually for the time of year we ate outside in the courtyard under the still virtually leafless mulberry tree. April started fine and then soon turned cold, and whilst out waking Bobby was poisoned by a ‘polpette’ left by the hunters, resulting in a three night stay at the vets. Luckily he recovered. It was a bad week for poisoned dogs as he was kept company at the vets by Ollie the black Labrador owned by my delightful friends across the valley. Bobby returned home weak but alive and was on the road to recovery when he got an inner ear infection and was walking a if drunk. The symptoms of a drunk, slow treatment and lots of affection and he has made a good recovery. He still has the occasional ‘turn’ but is trying so hard to lead a normal life.
April saw rain, although much needed it was very very wet and like the rest of Europe the temperature dropped, heating back on winter bedding still on the beds. Despite that guys took the plunge and were swimming.
and doing pool maintenance!
and enjoying the freedom of our outdoor showers
Of course Bellaugello Gay Guest House is not all about nudity, there is lots to see and do here in Umbria. On 15th May we headed into town, Gubbio to be precise and were part of the crowd at the ‘Alzata’ of the Ceri in the annual ‘Festa dei Ceri’, a spectacular event held annually. Despite the forecast the morning was hot and sunny and there was as ever a huge crowd.
I even got to make a short video which is on my You Tube channel “Bellaugello” do like my channel.
The afternoon was wet and got wetter as the week went on, ending in hailstones in town. Then came the calm after the storm:
Luckily here we were saved and the gardens not damaged. This year the gardens are looking wonderful, full of bloom with lawns requiring to be cut twice a week!
And we have been cooking, our thrice weekly dinners where we all get to sit together and chatter! Last night a dinner with a honeymoon couple and guys flown in from the USA, who got the unenviable task of cutting our homemade bread!
Now I need to sign off, I must get to the pool and catch some rays, but before I do a gentle reminder that we are hosting a weekend for single guys. A chance to make new friends, cook together go truffle hunting and winetasting. There is still some space available so please do if you are single or have single friends tell them about this fun weekend
click on the ‘deals’ page of our site and you will find full details and how to book.
see ya guys!
